Chip Thomas
Chip Thomas, aka jetsonorama, is a street artist/activist who specializes in photography and wheat paste murals. Thomas' work is more specifically reflective of the lifestyles of the Navajo people, a culture for which he has great appreciation. Across the Navajo Nation in Arizona, he creates murals on abandoned buildings and public areas. Much of his recent work has been created to spread messages in regards to how COVID-19 is affecting the Navajo community. Thomas' artwork is a part of an ongoing project, called the Painted Desert Project, which expands from Monument Valley to The Grand Canyon. The goal of his work is to express admiration of the Navajo culture and to spread awareness of how climate change affects the Navajo people, as the carbon emissions and carbon levels continue to rise in that area. Thomas also advocates for better nutrition and aid in the Navajo Nation focusing on health-related issues, such as diabetes, due to the poor eating habits and the advertising of unhealthy foods throughout the community.
